Welcome back Fan Expo Dallas Comic-Con fans!

Click to visit the Kay Bailey Hutchison Dallas Convention Center at their official web site!On Friday my son I were ready to have fun at Fan Expo Dallas. We had a very busy evening. There were so many things we wanted to do, and panels we wanted to see at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas.

Fan Expo Dallas is really a fan friendly convention, the layout, accessibility and organization were very clear. This made it easy for us to navigate to the areas we needed to be in at the times we needed to be there.

Freema Agyeman Fan ExpoThe first panel that we went to was with Freema Agyeman. She is such a beautiful person. She answered questions graciously and made eye contact with each fan as she answered their questions. She explained how she had gotten her role on Doctor Who and how that crossed over into Torchwood.

Freema Agyeman talked about having to be careful as an artist, stating, “If you choose the love and praise, it could turn you into a monster, or if you take all the hate and negativity, you won’t want to get out of bed.” I can see through her description how being an actor can be a delicate balance.

Freema Agyeman is currently filming the second season of Sense8. We made it to see Freema at her booth to get her autograph, and she was perfectly delightful. She is so vibrant and full of life and light. She truly is someone who really shines bright like a diamond.

Then we went to our second panel to see Hayley Atwell. To say that she is a truly lovely person would be an extreme understatement. She said that if Agent Carter would get picked up by another network, or Amazon, Hulu or NetflHayley Atwellix she would completely be ready to be Agent Carter again.

She really loves her role as Peggy Carter, and shares part of herself as Peggy because she was raised to have a sense of confidence. She relates to Peggy, who says in Agent Carter, “I know my value, anyone else’s opinion doesn’t really matter.”

Confidence is clearly one of Atwell’s strengths. She also stated that she has a competitive nature and how much fun she had partnering up “Agent Carter’s” James D’Arcy for a Dubsmash war against Agents of Shield’s Clark Gregg and Chloe Bennet. I watched as each team posted their Dubsmashes on Twitter, and it was priceless.

Hayley Atwell in ConvictionShe also talked about the Lip Sync episode (included above) that had her facing off against none other than Clark Gregg (which I think she totally should have won!) You can check the episode on demand on Spike TV.  This fun video can also found on Spike’s website.

A pilot she had filmed for a legal drama titled “Conviction” has been picked up by the ABC Studios Network, so we will be seeing more of her on the small screen.

Fans are still holding out hope for possibilities of Agent Carter returning to the small screen, or perhaps a return of the Peggy Carter character in Agents of SHIELD!

Jenna Coleman PanelJenna Coleman’s panel was next. She was stunning as usual. When asked by a fan about the funniest thing to happen on set, Jenna tells about Peter Capaldi wandering off during filming because he was hungry. Apparently he got lost in the process of looking for food and ended up pressing a button that was an emergency shower.

So Peter showed up back on set soaking wet and the make-up girls had to use hair dryers to dry him off so he could finish the shoot. A fan asked what she had coming up after Doctor Who. She can currently be seen in the box office feature “Me Before You” with Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin. When a fan asked what it was like to work with Emilia and Sam, she says they were charming and brilliant. She stars in a series “Victoria” in which she plays Queen Victoria. She is absolutely amazing, and will be missed as the twelfth doctor’s companion.

Our first evening at Fan Expo Dallas concluded with the special event “Tales from the Tardis.” My son and I are huge Doctor Who fans, and we were so excited about this event. The event had Peter Capaldi, Jenna Coleman and Michelle Gomez together on stage for a Q and A session.

I must take a side note here, my son actually started Peter and Michellewatching Doctor Who first and convinced me to watch it with him. Seeing the smile on his face and his excitement about this event was well worth the money we paid for this event times ten. It was awesome to see how these three reacted to each other away from the set of Doctor Who.

It is clear that they really respect and adore each other.  There was discussion between the three of them about which was harder, comedy or drama. Gomez talked about comedy having a rhythm to it, and joked about the different phrasing between England’s Maths versus American Math. Another question the host asked them what was different about the second season compared to the first.

Coleman spoke up and said that it was different for her than it was for Capaldi and Peter and JennaGomez because for her, Matt turned into Peter. Capaldi said that it was easier the second season, because the first season there was some pressure, everyone was watching to see his interpretation of the doctor.

Gomez said she was relieved with the second season because she got away with being a woman as the master, “Did anyone notice that I was a man, now I’m a woman?” The panel was so much fun. One fan asked Peter if he could do a Dalek voice. I cannot even begin to explain how absolutely amazing Capaldi’s response was. It is something you need to see for yourself. This panel was an unforgettable experience that I am so glad that we were able to witness.

The entire ride back, my son and I couldn’t stop talking about how amazing the first day of Fan Expo Dallas was. All in all, the whole experience of the first day of Fan Expo Dallas was so much more amazing than what we expected. We had so much fun that it felt like the time had flown by so fast.

I know that I have said it before, but it is true that this really was an amazing convention. Since everything was in one location, we were able to see the panels we wanted to see without having to rush to another physical location to do so. This kicked off an amazing experience for us and left us excited about the rest of the convention.

Come back soon as I will have more reports coming to you soon about day two and day three of my adventures at Fan Expo Dallas!
