This would be the first time I&#8217;d been able to attend a comic con on its opening day for more than a couple of hours.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Calibri'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Calibri';\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Calibri';\">The facility, <a title=\"Lake Charles Civic Center on Facebook\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/LakeCharlesCivicCenter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lake Charles Civic Center<\/a> (LCCC), was a great venue and their backyard view was amazing! We saw old friends and met new ones with <a title=\"The 501st Legion on Twitter\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/501stLegion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The 501st<\/a>. <a title=\"ToadSageCosplay on Twitter\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/toadsagecosplay\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nick Foreman<\/a> and friends, <a title=\"Bast Alpha Garrison Webpage\" href=\"http:\/\/la501st.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bast Alpha Garrison<\/a> and <a title=\"Dagobah Base Webpage\" href=\"http:\/\/dagobahbase.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dagobah Base<\/a>, gave us a quick lesson in <a title=\"The 501st Legion on Twitter\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/501stLegion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The 501st<\/a> costumes and their requirements. Very specific and informing!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Calibri'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Calibri';\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Calibri';\">We also found a few other fan groups including one of my favorite gangs, <a title=\"NAACG on Twitter\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/thenaacg?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">North American Assassin&#8217;s Creed Guild (NAACG)<\/a>. From my first comic con on, these guys always made me feel welcome and were actually my first introduction to fan groups! *whispers &#8216;they&#8217;re everywhere&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Calibri'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Calibri';\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Calibri';\">Fan groups are dedicated and I love it! It was great to see <a title=\"Star Wars Official Website\" href=\"http:\/\/www.starwars.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Star Wars<\/a> fans and cosplayers were in full force along with <a title=\"Ubisoft: Assassin\u2019s Creed Official Website\" href=\"https:\/\/assassinscreed.ubisoft.com\/en-us\/home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Assassin\u2019s Creed<\/a> and <a title=\"Alien IMDb\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0078748\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alien<\/a>. I never get tired of seeing all the creativity in suiting up for a comic con!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Calibri'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Calibri';\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Calibri';\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-10886\" src=\"http:\/\/wormholeriders.org\/cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/vendors-192x192.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wormholeriders.org\/cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/vendors-192x192.jpg 192w, https:\/\/wormholeriders.org\/cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/vendors-320x320.jpg 320w, https:\/\/wormholeriders.org\/cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/vendors-400x400.jpg 400w, https:\/\/wormholeriders.org\/cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/vendors.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 320px) 100vw, 320px\" \/>On the third floor, the vendor area was nicely laid out. The space was large enough that people weren&#8217;t crammed in and we didn&#8217;t have to climb over each other. Vendors sold things like jewelry, soaps, artwork, handmade items, swords, posters, cosplay accessories, and yummy donuts!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Calibri'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Calibri';\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Calibri';\">I think <a title=\"Shireen on Twitter\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%40shireen14&amp;src=typd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Shireen<\/a> and I might both agree that our favorite was the embroidery vendor. Their main wares: bath towels, bibs, and hand towels. We opted for the towels: <a title=\"Serenity IMDb\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0379786\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Serenity<\/a> for me, <a title=\"Doctor Who Official on Twitter\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bbcdoctorwho?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Doctor Who<\/a> for <a title=\"Shireen on Twitter\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%40shireen14&amp;src=typd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Shireen<\/a>. He did not disappoint. <a title=\"Julian Glover IMDb\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0002103\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mr. Glover<\/a> was such a gentleman. Did I mention that I love a good English accent? \u2018Cause I do..<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Calibri'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Calibri';\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Calibri';\"><a title=\"Julian Glover IMDb\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0002103\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Glover<\/a> is amazingly sharp with a memory like nothing I\u2019ve ever seen, from every detail, as to when his career began, to any role he\u2019s ever played. My favorite story was from the <a title=\"James Bond 007 on Twitter\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/007?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">007<\/a> set of <a title=\"For Your Eyes Only IMDb\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0082398\/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_95\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">For Your Eyes Only<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Calibri'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Calibri';\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Calibri';\">It goes something like: Night shootings made for long nights. I love her work, and she happens to be my twin&#8217;s favorite artist. It all started with the first print I&#8217;d come across of hers that had a little girl in a yellow raincoat. The resemblance to my niece was so uncanny that I had to get it for my sis. She has an amazing eye for color and it shows in her art! I\u2019ve heard about these tasty little pastries from <a title=\"Louisiana Travel\" href=\"http:\/\/www.louisianatravel.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Louisiana<\/a> and was not disappointed! SO good! I even saved a few and shared with one of my favorite guests in attendance, <a title=\"Luciana Carro on Twitter\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/lucianacarro\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Luciana Carro<\/a>. Yes, <a title=\"Wormhole Riders News Agency on Twitter\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WormholeRiders\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wormhole Riders<\/a> and fans of <a title=\"Luciana Carro IMDb\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm1382781\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Carro<\/a>,<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Calibri'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Calibri';\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Calibri';\">I met one of our faves from <a title=\"Syfy's Battlestar Galactica Official site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.syfy.com\/battlestargalactica\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Battlestar Galactica<\/a>, <a title=\"Click to learn about Caprica at WormholeRiders Dot Com Blog!\" href=\"http:\/\/wormholeriders.com\/blog\/?s=Caprica\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Caprica<\/a>, <a title=\"Falling Skies IMDb\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt1462059\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Falling Skies<\/a>, and <a title=\"Syfy's Helix Webpage\" href=\"http:\/\/www.syfy.com\/helix\/episodes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Helix<\/a>! She\u2019s gorgeous and so da** funny! She, like most of us who thoroughly loved S1 of <a title=\"Helix IMDb\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt2758950\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Helix<\/a>, would really have loved to see where her character, <a title=\"Syfy's Helix Webpage\" href=\"http:\/\/www.syfy.com\/helix\/episodes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Anana<\/a>, went.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Calibri'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Calibri';\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Calibri';\">She loved playing both <a title=\"Syfy's Battlestar Galactica Official site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.syfy.com\/battlestargalactica\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kat<\/a> and <a title=\"Syfy's Helix Webpage\" href=\"http:\/\/www.syfy.com\/helix\/episodes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Anana<\/a> and in her panel she was asked if she preferred movie or television roles. Television roles win out due to the possible longevity of the work. At her signing table, she said she didn\u2019t expect so many <a title=\"Helix IMDb\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt2758950\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Helix<\/a> fans. There were also many <a title=\"Syfy's Battlestar Galactica Official site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.syfy.com\/battlestargalactica\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Battlestar Galactica<\/a> fans. I met two of them and one had an eerie resemblance to <a title=\"Michael Hogan IMDb\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0389581\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Michael Hogan<\/a> (<a title=\"Syfy's Battlestar Galactica Official site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.syfy.com\/battlestargalactica\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Colonel Saul Tigh<\/a>)! From the venue, <a title=\"Lake Charles Civic Center on Facebook\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/LakeCharlesCivicCenter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LCCC<\/a>, to all guests scheduled attending with no cancellations. (That can sometimes happen due to scheduling conflicts.) Their tabletop games were fantastic and a lot of folks utilized that area. As was their top-notch <a title=\"CyPhaCon on Twitter\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CyPhaCon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CyPhaCon<\/a> Arcade with <a title=\"Scion eSports Webpage\" href=\"http:\/\/www.scionesports.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Scion eSports<\/a>! There was no overcrowding in artist alley or the vendor area which was a welcome relief. Food vendors were a little limited but did not affect us enjoying <a title=\"CyPhaCon on Twitter\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CyPhaCon?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&amp;ref_url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cyphacon.org%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CyPhaCon<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Calibri'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Calibri';\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Calibri';\">In closing, we\u2019d like to thank Garrett, <a title=\"CyPhaCon on Twitter\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CyPhaCon?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&amp;ref_url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cyphacon.org%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CyPhaCon<\/a> guests, and crew for a great weekend.
