Hello Convention Fans!\"Click<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This past weekend I attended Emerald City ComiCon<\/a> which was held at the Washington State Convention Center<\/a> in Seattle, Washington. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Click<\/a>First I would like to thank the Emerald City ComiCon<\/strong> (ECCC) staff and their public relations representative Ms. Jennifer Rice<\/strong> for allowing me<\/a> to cover the event as digital press on Sunday March 06, 2011. Their event is a very exciting “jewel” of the Northwest United States and we are honored to be posting this article here at WormholeRiders News Agency<\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I arrived at the Convention Center where ECCC was conducted early Sunday morning and queued up with the throng of fans anxiously waiting admittance into the main show room where the dealers were.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It was very fun to stand there and get a chance to talk to the many fans of various series. Some were even dressed in costumes (many of which were quite elaborate) that greatly impressed me including Green Hornet, Batman, and many others.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Once the doors opened we were admitted into the main dealers room where there were people selling wares of all kinds. Everything from simple sketches and action figures to elaborate artwork was available as far as the eye could see. It was quite an amazing sight to see with booths stretching in all directions and many staffed by the artists whose work was on sale.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

There were many more attendees dressed in costume once inside and I saw some that really amazed me, though I think my favorite may have been the little darling \u201cBatdog\u201d.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I headed downstairs to the autograph and photo op area so that I could purchase the one photo op I wanted, with Felicia Day<\/a> (from The Guild<\/a>, Red: Werewolf Hunter<\/a> (Syfy<\/a>), Dr. Horrible\u2019s Sing-Along Blog and many more). After I purchased that I went back up to the dealer room to wander around for a while. I saw the work of many talented artists and spoke with several vendors while scoping out items I might be interested in purchasing later in the day.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Around 11 am, I headed back downstairs to get in line for the autograph sessions that were being held. I spent about 45 minutes in line chatting with a couple of lovely fans from Reno, Nevada as well as some more local fans. I also spent some time snapping pictures of some of the convention attendees who were in costume and were in line. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Naturally at Emerald City ComicCon<\/a> there were very cool images of Stargate<\/a>! <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Emerald<\/a>
\n<\/span>Finally I got to the front of the line and got to meet the very lovely Felicia Day and get her autograph. While she was autographing my photo I had a moment to chat with her about the recent production of \u201cDr. Horrible\u2019s Sing Along Blog: The LIVE Show<\/a>\u201d that I had seen previously in Seattle.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

After I got Felicia\u2019s autograph I headed back upstairs to catch the panel that I was looking the most forward to the \u201cCon Horror Stories\u201d panel with Jim Zubkavich<\/strong>, Travis Hanson of Bean Leaf Press<\/a>, Brandon Jerwa<\/a>, and Eric Trautmann<\/a>. I am, unfortunately somewhat challenged in the map reading department, so I spent about 20 minutes trying to locate the room in which the panel was being held in. After locating it I sat through the most uproariously funny panel I have witnessed in a long time. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

As soon as the panel wrapped up it was back to the photo opportunity room for my photo with Ms. Felicia Day<\/a>. It was quite amusing to see the number of the Dr Horrible\u2019s and Captain Hammer\u2019s that were in line for the photo op. I also took a few minutes to snap some of the other memorable characters in line including Dr Who.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Once inside the actual photo room it was pretty much standard photo opportunity rules- wait in line until your turn, snap a picture and then you are done. Ms Felicia Day<\/a> of The Guild<\/a> was delightful as always!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Afterward it was back upstairs for a quick bite to eat and then off to purchase some of the items I had seen earlier. I stumbled upon some fantastic works of art that I had missed that morning. There were many show specific works of art ranging from classic television to current favorites such as Fringe<\/a> and the various incarnations of Star Trek.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

While I was wandering around I made a point to stop by and chat with the guys from the Con Horror Stories panel as I wanted to let them know how much I enjoyed myself. I was visiting with Travis Hanson of Beanleaf Press that I found what I consider my personal highlight of the day- a gorgeous print called \u201cButterfly Kisses\u201d. I literally had one of those \u201cAha!\u201d light-bulb moments when I saw the print and knew I had to have it.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

After that I wandered around chatting to a few more artists and picking up sundry odds and ends throughout the hall while still checking out the various costumes that were on display. As the day came to a close I slowly wound my way out of the hall and headed downstairs to meet some friends from the area for dinner.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Overall I had a wonderful time covering the event as press thanks to the gracious courtesy of Ms. Jennifer Rice<\/strong>.,Though I do wish I had been able to see some more of the actors that had been attending earlier in the weekend but were not there on Sunday. I truly hope to be able to attend Emerald City ComiCon<\/a> again next year at the end of March again.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
