\"SDCC<\/a>We begin our coverage of the fabulous yearly pilgrimage to San Diego Comic-Con<\/a> with what we here at Team WHR<\/a> believe is one of the most important panels conducted at the fabled entertainment SDCC 2015<\/a> convention, the Anti-Bullying<\/a> panel, created and moderated by the gifted and gorgeous Chase Masterson<\/a>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Aptly named “End Bullying: Responding to Cruelty in Our Culture”, the concept is clear; bullying of youth, LGBT, or for that matter by anyone is just plain incorrect behavior! <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"SDCC<\/a>The “End Bullying: Responding to Cruelty in Our Culture” panel featured distinguished guests including Pop Culture Hero Coalition<\/a> co-founder Carrie M. Goldman<\/a>, NOH8 Campaign<\/a> founders Adam Bouska<\/a> & Jeff Parshley<\/a>, United Nations Association San Diego<\/a> Chapter President Bettina Hausmann<\/a>, “Practical Human” Joe Gatto<\/a>, Entertainment Weekly<\/a> Senior Writer Anthony Breznican<\/a> and revered actor John Barrowman<\/a> (Torchwood<\/a> and Arrow<\/a>), himself a victim of bullying during his formative years in school when he was imprisoned in a school locker by a vile group of haters!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"SDCC<\/a>We include a few of the most notable quotes from the well attended event, now in their eighth appearance world-wide since this worthwhile cause began conducting panels at conventions only two short years ago in 2013! <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Moderator Chase Masterson<\/a> stated something everyone can believe in; “SuperHero IRL<\/a> (In Real Life) is something we can all do, every day\u201d, and \u201cWe love superheroes. Why not be one?\u201d. We agree Chase and look forward to supporting this great cause at future convention events! <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"SDCC<\/a>\u201cI\u2019m very happy with the turn out to the Pop Culture Hero Coalition<\/a><\/span><\/span> panel,\u201d Joe Gatto<\/a> said it very well; \u201cThere were meaningful words of encouragement and understanding spoken from a diverse and caring panel of professionals, all with unique takes on the issue of bullying. And these faces in the crowd stared back as if to say \u2018thank you for understanding.\u2019 It felt great to do some good\u201d. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Pop Culture Hero Coalition takes exactly that stance and is committed to everyone being able to pursue healthier, happier lives, which enrich us individually and collectively” said United Nations Association President Bettina Hausmann<\/a>“.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"SDCC<\/a>\u201cThe NOH8 Campaign\u2019s<\/a> involvement in the Coalition\u2019s work at cons around the nation is extremely important to us,\u201d and \u201cWe feel the topic of bullying is something that all con(vention) goers can relate to. If we can show them that there are many people out there just like them, we can start to empower each person to stand up for who they are and in turn, stand up for others” said Adam Bouska<\/a> and Jeff Parshley<\/a>“.

Goldman<\/a>, Pop Culture Hero Coalition<\/a> co-founder, related the goals of the Anti-Bullying team of superheroes; \u201cThe best part of the Coalition is that it provides a forum for us to reach the most vulnerable people attending Comic-Con and remind them that they are not alone, that they have greatness in them, just like the characters they so admire. Watching the research from my book, Bullied, turn into a living breathing entity that helps people is a profound experience,\u201d <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Our staunch belief is in ending bullying once and for all time. Always a cornerstone foundation of the WormholeRiders philosophy, our belief was put to the test in 2010 when a talented young journalist named Stephanie Bell<\/a> was viciously attacked on Twitter for being a lesbian. Our Team WHR<\/a> response was swift and decisive. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

While members of Team WHR<\/a> were courteous to the malcontent individual and cohorts, indicating they were entitled to his personal opinion about lesbians, he was NOT entitled to attack people publicly or in private for that matter. In the short period of time of twenty-four hours, hundreds, if not thousands of Twitter members told the hater in no uncertain terms no one would not tolerate such heinous outbursts! Thank goodness when the foul persons crawled back into the hole from whence they came!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
