While many memorable moments are detailed in the panel, one of the most touching was the mention, in fact a shout out to Katie Lester who has been a superb stalwart supporter of the series. Thanks Katie!
As originally described by SYFY, “Van Helsing is a total re-imagination of a timeless brand, set in a world dominated and controlled by vampires.
Vanessa Van Helsing is the last hope for survival, as she unknowingly awakens to discover she has a unique blood composition that makes her not only immune to vampires, but with the ability to turn a vampire human.”
“With this secret weapon, Vanessa becomes a prime target for the vampires, while trying to save humanity.”
“Van Helsing represents a new mythology in sci-fi by challenging traditional vampire rules,” said Chad Oakes, Co-Chairman of Nomadic Pictures (Fargo, Hell on Wheels). “
“The series is unique in exploring a world completely dominated by vampires, while the human characters have to learn the importance of working together to ensure their survival.”
Van Helsing has more than exceeded the original vision and expectations of the series admirers, the cast and the creators by earning a well deserved four seasons. We hope for many more seasons to come for this superb science fiction series as we await Van Helsing’s return to our screens in September 27, 2019 remaining a 13 episode series that originally premiered on September 23, 2016.
Series creator Neil LaBute, who served as the original show runner and wrote episodes through the 2018 third season is active supporting his creation with regular tweets supporting his brainchild on this his fresh imagining of the Dracula legend from NBC.
During the panel, and later in the Press Room where TeamWHR conducted exclusive interviews, much respect was paid to Neil LaBute for creating the re-imagined Van Helsing series and to Jonathan Lloyd Walker for continuing a beloved program as the season four showrunner!
As we completed our adventures during SDCC50 at San Diego Comic Con, we look back fondly to our prediction in 2016 that Van Helsing as a series would run many successful seasons. We are confident if you have not watched this great series, start today so you can be ready to enjoy Van Helsing season four as much as we did seeing the season four sneak peaks at San Diego Comic-Con!
